Always wanted to sing in a choir? This is a
friendly and inviting community choir for men and women who are new to choirs,
or experienced singers who want a choir that is not too demanding of their time
and commitments. Singers help one another out, and sometimes practice together.
We sing love songs, swing, gospel, and folk songs from around the world. We also
stretch our skills with a bit of classical or jazz.
We put on two concerts a year, and also a couple
of smaller performances. Sometimes small ensembles are formed by singers who
want an extra challenge and an opportunity to "strut their stuff".
Thinking of joining a choir? Come once or twice
to try it out and see how you like it. New singers are welcome at the beginning
of each new season, September and February.
Practice recordings are provided.
Practices are Tuesdays 7:30 – 9:30. We meet at the community hall of Holy
Cross Japanese Anglican Church, 4580 Walden, a short block east of Main/30th.
It's a pleasant space and neighbourhood.
Watch the calendar for season start dates and public performances. Also

"Finding
my way into Simple Gifts Choir was a stroke of good luck for me. You bring
joy, love, and cohesion to a group of folks who just want to sing together.
You bring us laughter, you help us find our voices, you make us feel like
part of a very special community."
HELP MAKE IT FUN FOR EVERYONE
Please avoid odours, even
pleasant ones, at lessons, classes, choir and performances. Perfume,
essential oils, hairspray, residual smoke or alcohol, can be troublesome,
especially for those with allergies.
